When you first begin your journey down the “LD” road, you will be bombarded with a new vocabulary, support and treatment options and numerous routes to take with your child. You will also have many questions!

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), authorized in 1990, ensures students with a disability are provided with a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) that is tailored to their individual needs.  And in IL, there are numerous laws supporting the education of our children. It can all be overwhelming but we hope some basic information posted here will help you build the foundation you’ll need to best help your child and their learning style.
